There is a possible connection between the two, but children are very rare Harlequin 1 in 300,000 births - thank God! This is the most severe form of congenital ichthyosis, and with it, most babies born die shortly after birth, although some people with the disease who lived until adulthood.

Harlequin babies are born with scales rhomboid skin and not flexible. This makes them in pain, open to infections, and slightly dehydrated.

There is a web site listed below some photos, but beware, not for the faint of heart.
